WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy and Home Infusion are operated by WVU Hospitals. We are a West Virginia-based pharmacy filling prescriptions for patients with unique and complicated medical conditions. We work with insurance companies and physicians to make sure patients have timely access to medication, and provide clinical guidance to ensure medication is administered safely. Our goal is to simplify and improve the treatment process.
At WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy, we know that specialty medications are costly – and essential for disease management. Our regional approach to specialty pharmacy services helps ensure our patients and providers get exceptional service and access to specialty medications.
The WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy team is here to provide special handling, packaging, education, and financial assistance for all our patients. It’s our goal to dispense your medication safely and effectively.

We make patient care and safety our number one priority. Our Specialty Pharmacy team provides clinical expertise to help treat complicated diseases. We work closely with your medical provider to make sure all of your prescription needs are met.
WVU Medicine Specialty Pharmacy has practice licenses in seven states, including:

When our team has access to your electronic health records, we can seamlessly work with your provider to authorize and ship your medication right to your doorstep. We’re all on the same team – your team.
Pharmacists: Here for you and your loved ones
Our team of clinical pharmacists provides medication education (i.e., administration, management of potential side effects, injection training, the importance of adherence, and more) to ensure patients are knowledgeable and comfortable with their medication to help improve compliance.
Typically, you will hear from a pharmacist over the telephone, but they are also available to provide education in person or over video during normal business hours.
At the physical pharmacy location, there is a designated counseling room to provide a private area to discuss your medications and answer your questions. This room is equipped with patient information handouts, as well as demo devices for many of the injectable medications you may receive from the pharmacy. This provides the opportunity to become comfortable with your new medication with the help of a pharmacist before beginning your treatment.
Pharmacists are also available to discuss your medications over video through MyWVUChart. If you are interested in this option, please speak to a member of the pharmacy team for more information.
